Frequently asked questions

Who is Anthony Farac Plumbing?
Anthony Farac Plumbing is a family business with 50 years of plumbing on Sydney's North Shore. Anthony is a St Ignatius College old boy and a Lane Cove local — his kids go to school in the area, and the family has been plumbing here since 1975. We handle homeowners, strata managers, and real estate agents across Lane Cove and the wider North Shore. We answer our own phone and stand behind our work.
How long has Anthony Farac Plumbing been in business?
Plumbing has been in the family for 50 years — Anthony's father started in 1975 and the same values and standards have carried through to today. Long enough to have plumbed some of our customers' parents' homes.
What areas does Anthony Farac Plumbing service?
We cover the Lower North Shore, Northern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, City & Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, and South & Western Sydney from our Lane Cove base. Not sure if we cover your area? Call 0405 576 129.

Call 0405 576 129 any time — for emergencies we answer 24/7. For non-urgent jobs, use the contact form or email info@anthonyfaracplumbing.com.au.
Do you do 24-hour emergency plumbing callouts?
Yes — burst pipes, sewage overflows, gas leaks, flooding, and no-hot-water emergencies are 24/7. Call 0405 576 129.
How quickly can you attend a blocked drain?
Same day service where the job allows. Call 0405 576 129 and we'll let you know our next available window.
What types of hot water systems do you install?
Gas instantaneous, gas storage, electric storage, heat pump, and solar hot water. Heat pumps currently have the best running cost and qualify for NSW and federal rebates. We include the rebate-adjusted figure in the free quote.
Do you provide free quotes?
Yes — free quotes on all work.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — fully licensed in NSW for plumbing and gas fitting. We carry Public Liability and Workers Compensation insurance and all required trade insurances. We are CM3 accredited (commercial sites) and ARM accredited.
Do you service Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs)?
Yes — we are licensed to service, certify and install Thermostatic Mixing Valves. Commonly required in aged-care, hospitals, childcare centres, and any setting where scald-risk regulation applies.
Do you install backflow prevention devices?
Yes — we are licensed to install and test backflow prevention devices, which protect the water supply from cross-contamination. Required for many commercial and industrial sites.
How often should drains be cleaned?
We recommend drains be cleaned every 6 months to prevent build-up before it becomes a blockage. For mature properties with tree-root pressure or commercial kitchens, more frequent cleaning may be worth it.
Do you do bathroom renovations?
Yes — complete rough-in to fix-out bathroom plumbing. Note: we do not handle demolition or waterproofing — those are separate trades you'll need to arrange.
Can you fix a leaking tap or do I need a new one?
We'll make every attempt to service a tap. However, some taps are beyond serviceable and require replacement — corroded bodies, scaled-up cartridges, or rare designs where parts aren't available. We'll show you the options before quoting.
Do you offer warranty on your work?
Yes — 12 months on repair work. Manufacturer's warranty on fixtures and hot water units as per manufacturer specification.
Do you work with real estate agents and strata managers?
Yes — we've been the preferred plumber for real estate agencies and strata managers on the North Shore for decades. We provide detailed job reports for owner and body corporate records, and offer 24/7 emergency attendance for urgent callouts. Call 0405 576 129 to add us to your preferred contractor list.
What is pipe relining and when do I need it?
Pipe relining is a trenchless repair method where a resin-coated liner is inserted into a damaged pipe and cured in place — effectively creating a new pipe inside the old one. It's used when pipes have cracks, root intrusion, or joint failures that can't be easily repaired by digging. Relining is faster and less disruptive than full excavation.
Do you do gas plumbing and gas fitting?
Yes — we're licensed for both plumbing and gas fitting under AS 5601. We handle gas line repairs, new gas appliance connections (cooktops, heaters, BBQs), gas leak detection, and gas line extensions for renovations. If you smell gas, call us immediately on 0405 576 129.
